To address the questions you raised, we do provide a contract that backs up every transaction on the site, and you specify a deposit so you keep money when a stranger walks out with your valuable camping gear. Every transaction being local and face-to-face, there is much less room for scam artists to try their tricks than on places like eBay where you never meet the other guy.
